Information for new members
Since 2002, ADCSA has trained at Barratt Reserve, home of the German Shepherd Dog Club on
West Beach Road, West Beach, approximately 500m west of Tapleys Hill Road, on the southern (lefthand) side
and well sign-posted.
Our new member intake for our monthly Introduction course is on the first
Thursday of each month March - November. If training is cancelled due to adverse weather (too hot or too wet) the course
will start the following week. Please arrive between 6.30pm - 6.45pm so you are ready to start class at 7pm.
The membership form can be downloaded from the 'FEES' page under Membership menu. Complete the form &
bring it with you to the first class along with your dogs current vaccination certificate, the club requires a C5 Vaccination
(a photo on your phone is fine). ADCSA accepts titre test results of vaccination status providing the results are
clear and easy to understand. Please leave your dog in the car while completing your membership.
We offer 'Come 'n' Try' classes for the first two weeks at $5 per session before the remaining annual fee needs to be paid.
Puppies may commence Puppy Foundation Skills training
once they are fully vaccinated (12 - 16 weeks of age). Activity is
restricted and no jumping training is permitted until the dog is 12 months old.
A general veterinary check is recommended to ensure that they are fit for this type of exercise.
Some breeds and all dogs that are markedly overweight, should not be expected to jump.
While we don’t require any level of previous obedience training, some basic skills are necessary for dogs to be able to work safely off-lead.
Obedience classes may assist you and your dog to learn skills that are helpful for Agility (e.g. a reliable recall, stay/wait command and working off-lead).
For safety reasons at training please ensure your dog is wearing a flat collar (no tags) and leave the harness,
collar with tags, head halti, check chain, martingale collar, etc at home or in your car.
NB: Proof of your dogs' current C5 Vaccination will be required on joining.
