Information for new members:  
 Location, location, location:

     Since 2002, ADCSA has trained at Pedigree Park, the West Beach clubgrounds of the German Shepherd Dog Club, on West Beach Road, situated approximately 500m. west of Tapleys Hill Road, on the southern side, sharing driveway access with the Riding Club which is well sign-posted, & marked on UBD directories : Map 128 Ref. C 5  

Training is on Thursday evenings, late February to mid-November, with a Basic Beginners' induction class held for new members on the first Thursday evening of each month ... if this once-only session has
to be cancelled (see below) it will be conducted the following week.

 
               Dogs must be 12 months old before beginning their Agility training, and a general
            Veterinary check is recommended to ensure that they are fit for this type of exercise.
          Some breeds, & all dogs that are markedly overweight, should not be expected to jump.


         NB: Proof of current Vet. vaccination will be required on joining/renewing membership.

 *   1st  Session: 7.30 pm – 8.10 pm:
            Intermediate Classes : all heights, in 'Rings' 1 & 2
           & Trialing Class 500 mm

    Members are requested to attend by 7.00 pm to assist with the setting up of equipment,
and training will start as soon as this is done.   If this is not possible for some members to achieve,
it is expected that they will remain at the end of training to take down and pack up the equipment,
which is a crucial element in Agility training.  All members are reminded of the need to be considerate
towards each other,  and to make adequate arrangements for the tethering/crating of their dogs
          for the comfort and safety of all dogs and handlers on the club-grounds.
   

         *Unsettled/ barking barking dogs are not to be tethered/crated
on or near the clubrooms veranda.  

Tethered dogs should be attached to their peg by a lead of no more than 1 metre in length.

Dogs may be trained without a collar if under control, or wearing a flat collar without attachments:
no slip collars are allowed in an Agility environment.
Leads should be between 1 m and 1.5 m in length.

Weather constraints:
      Hot Weather:
  If the temperature is 34 C. or higher at 6 pm, there will be no training.

Wet Weather:  If there has been heavy rain consistently during the week,
 or on the Thursday,
                  or if there is thunder or lightning,
all training may be cancelled in consideration of safety

        It is all members' responsibility to be familiar with the ANKC Agility Safety Guidelines.
    

                Copies of this document, and of the A.N.K.C. Agility & Jumping Rules,

         are available at the club, or can be downloaded from the AgilitySA web-site.
       Club m
embers in the Intermediate and Trialing classes are expected to have
                a good working knowledge of the application of these regulations.

TRAINING ... NB: dogs may not wear slip collars or attachments which might catch on equipment.

1.  A dog must be 12 months of age before beginning Agility training.
2.  The dog must be deemed fit by an instructor, on behalf of the Head Instructor.
3.  The dog must be under control.
4.  No dog will be permitted off lead in the training area without the permission of an instructor.
5.  The equipment is not to be used unless with the permission of an instructor.
6.  Although all due care will be taken, a dog and handler will undertake training at their own risk.
7.   All courses must be run in proper numerical order.
8.   An instructor has the right to ask a handler to leave if found to be putting a dog at risk of injury.
9.   No dog which is suspected of suffering from an infectious or contagious disease (e.g. Parvo,
      Kennel Cough etc.) or exposed to the risk of such disease will not be permitted to train for
      a period of five weeks dating from the infection or exposure.
10.  Membership badges must be worn at all times during training.
11.  Vaccination certificates must be sighted by a committee member within one month of joining
        and renewing membership.
12.  Bitches in oestrum will not be permitted on the training grounds.
13.  All dogs droppings must be removed by the owner of the dog.
14.   No slip-, or restricted-slip-collars may be worn during Agility training.

CANCELLATION OF TRAINING

1. If there is consistent rain in the training area, prior to training on a given night, training will be      cancelled. If you have doubts about training or have a long way to travel, then ring either the
       Head Instructor or the President of the club before 6pm.

2. If during the day the temperature reaches 34° degrees, training may be suspended. If your dogs are        not affected by the heat, then contact either the President or the Head Instructor before 6pm to           confirm whether training will proceed.

3. There will be no training on: (A) The Thursday prior to Easter. (B) If Anzac Day falls on a Thursday.          (C) During Royal Show Week.

INSTRUCTORS

1. The Head Instructor will have an Agility Dog Title and have instructed in agility for a minimum of 2
       years.
2.  An instructor must have an Agility Dog Title and deemed suitable by the Head
       Instructor, with the exception of 3
3.  The Head Instructor may appoint any person deemed suitable as an instructor under
        special circumstances.
4.  A person may be selected to aspire if: (A) They are working towards an Agility Dog Title.
                                                                        (B) They have an Agility Dog Title.
5.  Instructors train their dogs free of charge and are entitled to train in class first if they have another           class to go to instruct.

COMMITTEE                To be eligible to be nominated for a committee position a person must
                                              be a member of the club for a period of not less than three months.

MEMBERSHIP

DOUBLE MEMBERSHIP:
     Double membership will be allowed to two adult people who live at the same address.
     
JUNIOR:
     Junior membership shall be no more than half the fee set for ordinary membership,
                     and applies to those up to and including the age of 16 years.

PENSIONER MEMBERSHIP:
     Pensioner membership will be the same as ordinary membership and the fee will be the same.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP:
  a)  Life membership must be proposed, in writing, to the committee, at least 60 days prior to an        Annual General Meeting by at least two ordinary members, outlining the reasons why the         proposed person is worthy of such an honour.
  b) The criteria under which this honour will be considered by committee, to be proposed to the        members at an Annual General Meeting are:

   i.   At least 7 years membership of the club has been attained, and,
   ii.  At least 4 consecutive years as a member of the committee, or 6 consecutive years as an instructor         (including 1 year, only, as an aspiring), and
   iii. The service to the club deemed to be meritorious.

AGGRESSIVE DOG RULE

      The Head Instructor or delegate has the right to ask a handler to muzzle their dog. If this is
     refused then the Head Instructor or delegate will order them to leave the ground immediately.


CONTROL OF REPRIMANDS TO DOGS

1.    No person may treat their dog in any manner which could include excessive reprimanding, physical              abuse or the like. Such incidents should be reported in writing, to the Head Instructor on the night.
2.  The Head Instructor, or the designated instructor in charge of the training session, has the authority
      to ask any club member, or any person guilty of unseemly conduct or act harmful to the club, to leave
the training ground.
3.   Handlers must notify their class instructor of any savage or aggressive tendencies in their dogs.
      If a handler fails to do so and a problem arises as a result of these tendencies, they maybe required to:
      (a) Muzzle their dog immediately; or (b) Leave the training grounds immediately.
      An c9ommittee inquiry may be held into such incidents to determine if further action is warranted.
4.    The committee may appoint or elect an investigative committee to look into all reportable offences
            or incidents. This group will comprise: (a) A chairperson who is a member of committee;
        (b) An instructor from the club; (c) Either one or three ordinary club members as seen fit by the
          committee.
5.    The club committee shall determine the terms of reference for each individual inquiry for the
           investigative committee.
